A teacup crowned with a little awakening lion — the guardian of fortune in southern Chinese folk art. Hand-thrown and glazed in the centuries-old Shiwan tradition.
The awakening lion ([醒狮]) is a southern Chinese folk icon of courage and good fortune, born from Shiwan — a pottery town with over 500 years of kiln history. We shrank that tradition onto a teacup: a sculpted lion perched on the rim, hand-glazed in gold or blue. Every cup is thrown and finished by hand, so the lion's expression is never quite the same twice.
